In a new video for WRC 10, the official video game of the FIA World Rally Championship, NACON and developer KT Racing present the importance of sounds in the game and how they are created.
For a realistic implementation, the WRC 10 team has paid special attention to the sound of the engine sounds by including real racing models and integrating them into the game.
The importance of sounds in WRC 10
The recordings are a complex and precise process that makes it possible to capture sounds from different sources and perspectives in order to reproduce the sound effects as appropriately as possible in the different game situations. After recording, the various sources are processed, mixed and assigned to each vehicle in the game. For the final mix, ambient noises such as public areas, various road surfaces or weather influences are added in order to generate a realistic simulation.
WRC 10 will be available in stores on September 2, 2021 for PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC and at a later date also for Nintendo Switch ™.
