eSports WRC – The victory

After the grand finale of the eSports WRC presented by TOYOTA Gazoo Racing on September 8th live from the Olympic Velodrome in Athens, NACON and KT Racing Studio announced the victory of Lohan “Nexl” Blanc.

In parallel to the EKO Akropolis Rally, eight qualification and four final stages, eight international players competed in WRC 10, the fundamental game of the FIA World Rally Championship. Their goal was to get into the top four and thus have a chance to win the title and a GR Yaris provided by TOYOTA Gazoo Racing, the season’s main sponsor. A ninth candidate could qualify in a special final for Greek and Cypriot players in collaboration with Kotsovolos and Cosmote. As a result, Zeniou_04 started alongside the eight best WRC 10 drivers.

After an exciting day of racing, Lohan “Nexl” Blanc, Sami-Joe, Izamuzing and Noel qualified for the final, which was held on four stages of the new WRC 10: Elva Reverse (Rally Estonia), Akropolis 1987 (Rally of the Gods), Querol Reverse (Rally Spain) and Kostanjevac Reverse (Rally Croatia). In the end, “Nexl” prevailed with 28:03 minutes spread over four stages and won the competition. With only 13 seconds ahead of Sami-Joe the lead in a particularly eventful final. The 24-year-old “Nexl” is a passionate sim racing driver and is on the podium again – he was already victorious in the 2017 and 2019 championships. The renewed first place was a revenge for the LDLC OC Race Clutch driver, as he finished second in the 2020 final in Belgium in July 2021 behind Sami-Joe, who had beaten him by about 10 seconds.

Nexl said: “I am very happy to have won this championship, I can hardly believe it. I made a few mistakes during the Special Stages, it’s a new track, a new race … we all made mistakes, ” ”with the trophy in his hands. “I am very proud to have won the race for the third time and to be able to compete with such good drivers.”

As the winner of the eSports WRC 2021, he wins the GR Yaris from TOYOTA Gazoo Racing, the main sponsor of the season. Runner-up Sami-Joe Abi Nakhle wins a simulator donated by WRC eSports partners Fanatec, Playseat and BenQ / Mobiuz, while Dylan Noel received a TW Steel watch for third place.
