Electronic Arts and the PGA Tour announced improvements and enhancements that will be available at the launch of EA SPORTS PGA Tour as part of their longstanding partnership.
This includes the return of the FedExCup including playoffs to the game, with realistic representations of all three FedExCup playoffs events and host seats, and the integration of the FedExCup playoffs into the career mode. In addition, selected challenges and an increased authenticity of the PGA Tour golfers will be developed through real golf data for the game, which will be released in spring 2022.
Len Brown, chief legal officer and executive vice president of licensing and merchandising for the PGA TOUR said: “PGA TOUR is thrilled to have our fans experience the FedExCup playoffs and ShotLink from CDW at EA SPORTS PGA TOUR,”.
All three events of the FedExCup Playoffs 2022 will be playable when EA SPORTS PGA Tour launches. The host places for the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship – TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee; Wilmington Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware; and East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. The golfers on the PGA Tour are shown more realistically than ever before in EA SPORTS PGA Tour and they come with ShotLink from CDW, PGA Tour’s own real-time points system.
ShotLink has revolutionary data acquisition technology for every golfers shot – it measures digital information from PGA Tour and compares the data with fans who are playing the video game. EA SPORTS PGA Tour is the first ever golf video game to incorporate ShotLink data on a large scale into the development of the game. The result is precise player ratings and skills as well as realistic in-game events. In addition, data from the TrackMan measurement solution is included in the game, which brings additional authenticity because EA’s game designers can use it to perfect the gameplay and various values such as club tuning.
Abraham Ancer added: “My first PGA TOUR win at the St. Jude Invitational was the culmination of years of hard work and training, and I find it exciting that EA SPORTS PGA TOUR players can experience the same thrill as I did at TPC Southwind,”.
Just like in the real PGA Tour season, we can collect FedExCup points during the course of the in-game career mode in order to qualify for the FedExCup playoffs. At the end of the year, the best golfers will then have the chance to win the FedExCup. The Korn Ferry Tour also returns in Career Mode, adding extra depth to the game by allowing us to hone our skills before taking part in the PGA Tour. The Korn Ferry Tour, the PGA Tour development tour, will be an important part of our journey to master EA SPORTS PGA Tour.
The Amundi Evian Championship, one of the five major championships of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tour, is also open to us. We have the option of choosing from several female athletes and we can also create a female golfer ourselves in the revised player creation.
